Show Me Your Food Porn: Andrea Fazzari

Whether she's in Jamaica with a brooding Marco Pierre White or hunting with a Brazilian master chef, the self-taught photographer brings high drama to the food world.

Give a man a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day. Give chef Alex Atala a bow and arrow in São Paulo’s jungle, and you’ve got yourself a hell of a portrait (and a delicious dinner ahead of you). That’s the way photographer Andrea Fazzari rolls, engineering just the right setting and props to capture stunning portraits of some of the world's most celebrated chefs—and, of course, their delicious grub.

Her penchant for theatrical visuals reflects her former life in fashion PR, but nowadays the self-taught photographer shoots for media heavy hitters like Travel + Leisure and Vanity Fair. Fazzari first fell into food photography after Gourmet gave her an assignment in northern Greece, and she’s since added gorgeous dish shots to her portraiture and travel portfolio, from Tom Colicchio’s snapper to immaculate breads by French baker Yannick Gauthier.

Her knack for finding the connection between personality and cuisine is nowhere more evident than in her striking image of Marco Pierre White—he doesn’t just sear with a skillet (for his accompanying pepper shrimp and mango dish at Le Papillon) but also with his eyes, dropping a Blue Steel-worthy stare in this rundown of Fazzari’s favorite food shots.

When it comes to epic photos of epic chefs and their equally epic eats, it doesn’t get much better than this.
