Sam Adams Founder Talks Craft Beer, What It’s Like to Be a Billionaire (Video)

Jim Koch reflects on his success in a niche market and his hopes for the future.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Boston beer mogul Jim Koch discusses the success of Samuel Adams. Boston Beer Co, Sam Adam’s parent company, is the second largest American-owned brewery. The company experienced more than 17% growth this year in an otherwise tepid beer market.

From Boston Lager to Norse Legen, Koch’s beers have a cult following all over the country. In the video, Koch discusses his beginnings selling beer from bar to bar. He talks about how he used to stick a few cold brews in each pocket of his suit jacket. He continues to do so to this day, despite his company raking in more than $128 million annually.
