If you’re like us, the most exciting spring restaurant opening in NYC isn’t Bobby Flay’s Gato or even Ivan Ramen. Clearly, it’s Russ & Daughters Café, a spinoff of the legendary Lower East Side appetizing shop that’s been selling the city’s best Jewish staples (lox, smoked sturgeon, bagels with a schmear) for more than a century.
In the lead-up to rumored opening tomorrow, we’ve been stalking the new space heavily, basically standing outside on a daily basis waiting for it appetizing to commence.
Anticipation reached fever pitch when we noticed that Instagram user/insanely #blessed human being @jessicam_pr got a sneak peak of the menu at a soft opening:

The menu is exactly what you’d expect, with whole categories dedicated to herring, caviar, and lox boards. But the restaurant will also offer hot egg dishes, plus cocktails inspired by old-school soda fountains.
Might go start camping out right now…
