If you like to feel the blazing fires of a thousand suns after eating at a fast food restaurant, McDonald’s new spicy menu might be for you. Last week, the fast food giant offered free medium fries and a drink with any order of their new test item, the Jalapeño Kicker Sandwich.
A McDonald’s press release states:
“The new Jalapeño Kicker sandwich is a quarter pounder beef patty or premium chicken (grilled or crispy) with cream cheese sauce, jalapeño pepper jack cheese, crunchy jalapeño crisps, pickled jalapeño slices, farm fresh tomato and a crisp leaf”
The stores will also try out Spicy Jalapeño & White Cheddar Cheese McMuffins and Jalapeño White Cheddar Cheese Biscuits. They must have gotten a great deal on five million tons of jalapeño peppers from Costco. (You all know the feeling: spinach in every meal for weeks and the bag won’t end.) If the company decides the new items are a success, you’ll soon be able to order the items all over the country.
McDonald’s isn’t the only company jumping on the spice train. Subway recently released their new Creamy Chicken and Steak Sriracha Melts after a similar test run.
According to the Huffington Post, “Subway’s brand insights team found that nearly two-thirds of quick service restaurant patrons preferred a medium-hot heat level for spicy food.”
