It’s bad enough to watch someone soldier through a raw kale salad while gazing at a monitor with glazed, dead eyes. But when we saw Complex Deputy Editor Ross Scarano making nachos in the microwave and bringing them back to his desk, we couldn’t take it anymore. We had to intervene.
Who could rectify this tragedy and deliver Ross from the grasps of American cheese-smothered loneliness? There was only one man for the job: Dave Arnold, a man whose credentials are myriad—Founder and President of the Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD); Momofuku culinary innovator; Booker and Dax drink-slinger; ace food-science blogger—and whose DYI skills seemed perfectly suited for a guerrilla desk-nacho operation.
Arnold came strapped with a Searzall—a portable broiler that he invented—and a trolley full of other tools and ingredients that made everyone in the office simultaneously hungry and concerned for their safety.
Did anyone get mortally wounded by nacho shrapnel? Did Ross get the nacho upgrade that he so desperately needed? Watch the video above to see how it all went down.
