L.A. Times’ Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold rounded up 20 of his favorite restaurants to participate in Bite Nite, an intimate event hosted last night in Los Angeles. There were stellar bites from both renowned and off-the-radar spots—velvety, chocolatey mole from Guelaguetza, slow-roasted salmon with cold carrot salad beets and charmoula yogurt from Lucques, runny egg carbonara ravioli from Spago, and crispy rice salad with spicy sour pork from Night+Market.

The event was a sort of celebration leading up to Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants, a comprehensive ranking of the city’s best, to be published tomorrow in The Times.
