Go Behind the Scenes at an Old-School Italian Deli in NYC (Video)

If you’re a fan of real New York stories, take some time out today to catch this short video about Walter Momentè, proprietor of Alidoro in Soho. The old-school Italian deli—”no serve tomatoes, we no serve avocados, no liverwurst, ketchup, mayo”—has been around for more than 25 years, and Momentè has been running the show since 2001. In this video from Moonshot Productions’ New Yorkers series, the garrulous sandwich wizard offers a behind-the-scenes look at the operation, from sourcing quality ingredients to never compromising on his commitment to doing things the Italian way.

These are the types of folks who deserve more recognition in the food world. Now…who’s up for some sopressata for lunch?
