It's like the '80s version of Soylent.

In a recent and inadvertently hilarious interview with The Telegraph, actress and closet weirdo Michelle Pfeiffer opened up about the time she joined a ‘Breatharian’ cult. The cult believed in “the ability to live without food and water, instead relying on air and sunlight” for sustenance.

Early in her career, Pfeiffer began spending a great deal of time with a couple who were Breatharians. “They worked with weights and put people on diets,” Pfeiffer further explained in the interview. “They were very controlling. I wasn’t living with them but I was there a lot and they were always telling me I needed to come more. I had to pay for all the time I was there, so it was financially very draining.”

Pfeiffer says she was “saved” when she met her first husband, Peter Horton, who was researching a role for a film about the Moonies (named for Rev Moon Sun-myung’s Unification Church). While talking to ex-cult members, it dawned on her that the situation sounded awfully familiar. She distanced herself from the couple and, we hope, ate a pint of ice cream or something.

Queen Gwyneth and the GOOP squad must be so jealous that they didn’t think of just not eating.
