The retail-restaurant hybrid has been one of the most enduring trends of the past couple years, spawning all sorts of creative mashups of food and commerce. Miss Lily’s Variety in Soho combines a Jamaican record shop, Internet radio station, juice bar, and bakery all under one roof. Spots like Vinyl Wine and the Winey Neighbor are temples to both wine and music. And Eataly is, essentially, a massive grocery story full of sit-down eateries.
None of these speak to us on the same level as Daps Feltman Mart, a brand-new hybrid shop that—perhaps for the first time—combines a streetwear boutique and all-American burger joint in one seamless package. What Chuck E. Cheese’s was to our interests as 10-year-olds, Daps Feltman is today. Sneakers and high-grade chili dogs have replaced Skee-Ball and shitty pizza. (Yeah, we haven’t grown up that much.)

The spot is located on the picturesque (yes, we’re happy to employ that modifier here) main street in Armonk, New York, and is a worthy pit stop for anyone making their way north from NYC. Drawing menu items from their popular NYC food truck, Feed Your Hole, the DFM team matches quality brand accounts—Nike, Homage, BBC, and more—with the quality of its food.
Behind every novelty fat-kid item (think quadruple stacked burgers and macaroni-and-cheese sandwiches) is real honest cooking with a sense of fun. Meats are ground in house. Sauces are homemade. And a passion for American vernacular dining yields an inventive menu that celebrates upgraded comfort food without a hint of pretension.
