Here Are the Best New Restaurants of 2013, According to Esquire

NYC's Betony gets the highest honors from critic John Mariani.

Recently, Bon Appétit’s Andrew Knowlton named his 10 best new restaurants of 2013. Now, Esquire critic John Mariani has come out with his own list of superlatives for the year, which is notable in that it has only two points of overlap with the BA list: Rolf and Daughters in Nashville, and The Ordinary in Charleston.

If his NYC selections (Betony, Juni, the Elm) are anything to go by, Mariani is more taken by luxe ingredients and technical cooking than the continued trend for stripped-down, DIY dining showcased in other parts of the country.
