Hikaru Cho is just messing with us. In her photographic series “It’s Not What It Seems,” Cho plays on the similar shapes of food we know and love.

Using paint and her imagination, Cho disguises familiar foods to look like each other. She paints a banana to appear exactly like a cucumber, and an egg to look nearly identical to an eggplant.

Cho is known for her hyperrealistic art experiments, so these trompe-l’œil games are nothing new to her . The series is ongoing, so check back at her website for new images.
