The numbers are in: Americans are drinking less soda. Pepsi reports a 1% increase of revenue growth and is “now looking at what will likely be flat sales for the year.”
Soda opponents like Mayor Bloomberg are probably happy about the news, but this is bad news for Pepsi. The company sells some of the most sugary drinks on the market, from 7-up to Hawaiian Punch. This decline in soda drinking means Pepsi has to adapt its offerings to provide lower sugar and lower calorie options. With this turn toward health, we doubt Jones Soda will be selling much of its poutine flavor.
