Japanese illustrator-chef Takayo Chiyota, aka “Tama-chan,” uses sushi as a canvas to create pieces of art.

She crafts sushi rolls into portraits of Tutankhamun, replicas of ‘The Scream’ by Edvard Munch, as well as cats, mermaids, and fetuses (we know, that last one’s a bit creepy). If you’re anywhere near Japan, you’ll be glad to know that Tama-chan teaches workshops in Tokyo’s Omotesando neighborhood, so you too can be a sushi artist. Email ab@l-amusee.com to sign up for a class.
