Football season is upon us. College football kicks off today—with loads of week-one games starting tonight and rolling through Labor Day—and the beginning of NFL season is just a week away. What does this all mean? Painted chests, insane stadium eats, and—most importantly—tailgating.

Tailgating is perhaps the most legitimate excuse for drinking dawn ’til dusk, and it’s heavily steeped in tradition. Each team has their own customs, including regional snack specialties, tailgating gear, and beer selections. It’s a chance to display your team pride while doing some serious indulging on burgers and booze. It’s a time where dropping $15 on a pack of napkins emblazoned with your team’s logo doesn’t seem all that absurd.

Sure, those football shaped cupcakes you baked are a cute touch, and those bacon wrapped hot dogs you cooked on your portable grill are quite delicious. They are, however, pedestrian at best. In a culture where the tailgate matters basically as much as the game itself, why not push your tailgating to new heights this season and get a little bit (or a whole lot) epic?
