Florida had no shortage of odd happenings back in 2015; 2016 is looking to be no different. According to WPTV, 23-year-old Joshua James allegedly chucked a three-and-a-half-foot alligator he found on the side of the road through a Wendy’s drive-thru near Royal Palm Beach.

Although the incident happened back in October, James has recently been taken into custody for something his parents explain was nothing but a prank. WPTV notes that James is a huge Steve Irwin fan who “didn’t mean any harm.” But is anyone really buying that? James is now facing charges for catching an innocent alligator and assault with a deadly weapon, according to USA Today.

Meanwhile, the alligator is doing just fine. He was released back into the canal where he rightfully belongs.
