Back in August, we reported that Russell Taylor, the former executive director of The Jared Fogle Foundation and convicted pedophile, spent 60% of the foundation’s funds on his own salary rather than using the money to serve the foundation’s sole purpose of giving grants out to children.

Today, the Associated Press reports Taylor begged the federal judge for leniency before being sentenced to 27 years in jail for producing child pornography. In an emotional address, Taylor pleaded for the judge to give him a sentence that would eventually allow him to reunite with his family and make up for his past actions.

Taylor apologized to the children he exploited, begging the judge to “not allow [him] to rot in the landfill of lost souls.” Now, Taylor will face lifetime supervision after he completes his sentence.

The Daily Mail notes Russell and Jared’s relationship was far from professional. Taylor claims Fogle demanded he called him “daddy” while the duo set up cameras for Fogle to watch footage of children undressing. Additionally, Taylor allegedly obtained roofies for Fogle to use in the abuse of minors.

Last month, former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his ties with child pornography and paying for sex with underage girls.
