The Long Island Rail Road announced they’re banning booze on all their trains this Saturday during SantaCon 2013. Yes, they will be closing the doors on all drunk-ass santas who try to bring their 40’s and water bottles filled with vodka on the train to Manhattan.
The 24-hour booze ban will run from noon Saturday through noon Sunday. LIRR spokesman Salvatore Arena tells DNAinfo:
The LIRR normally allows passengers to drink alcohol on the train, but it does “occasionally institute a ban for short periods of time.” Such occasions include St. Patrick’s Day and the night before Thanksgiving. The LIRR also prohibits alcohol consumption between midnight and 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Maybe the ban is a reaction to the public and the city of New York finally realizing that SantaCon encourages “intoxicated partygoers” to “roam the streets urinating, littering, vomiting and vandalizing”—these succinct words come from a letter written by Midtown North Precinct Lt. John Cocchi urging about 30 bars and clubs not to support SantaCon this year.
