Cult food magazine Lucky Peach has made a name for itself not just with captivating stories, but with original illustrations that permeate the magazine’s pages. Last night, we got a sneak peek at Lucky Peach‘s first annual art gallery exhibit, The Art in Article.” The exhibit, running from December 19-20 (11am-6pm) at Bleecker Street Arts Club, features artwork from 18 acclaimed Lucky Peach artist and illustrators. While you’re at the exhibit, check out the pop-up shop with holiday gifts from the artists, as well as treats from Momofuku and Milk Bar.

In the gallery brochure, Lucky Peach editor Peter Meehan says:

“We are beyond fortunate to get to work with the artists that we do for Lucky Peach. They keep our pages from being a dry matrix of little black and white marks; they make stories seem more interesting than they are.”

So buy your mom, aunt, cousin, best friend, and boyfriend a zany, colorful illustration this holiday. Need another reason to check out the exhibit?: 20% of Lucky Peach artwork sales will be donated to the Red Cross for their efforts in the Philippines.
