New Yorkers went nuts when word first got out that Umami Burger—the West Coast chain with a cultish following—would be opening an outpost in the city. A stand at least year’s Great GoogaMooga festival in Brooklyn ran out of patties in what seemed like seconds, and people waited eagerly for a storefront that never materialized.
Well, fear not: A piece in the New York Times suggests that the wait may finally be over. As Glenn Collins reports, the burger joint is among “eight ‘fast casual’ restaurants [that] have signed leases with Brookfield Office Properties to occupy a $40 million second-level gallery adjacent to the glass atrium and palm trees of the Winter Garden, in the World Financial Center.”
The rest of the lineup sounds pretty dope as well—with Dos Toros Taqueria and Num Pang in the mix, the “Dining Terrace” might just be one of the best food courts in the city. Looks like the Financial District is on the come up.
