Los Angeles Times has been running a weekly food quiz composed by their resident food critic Jonathan Gold, and this week’s feature trivia on eats from San Francisco and Detroit. The Pulitzer Prize-winning writer tries to play it off like the quiz isn’t a tribute to the World Series, but he’ll convince few. We’re not all that sure why he would want to in the first place.

Not for the uninitiated, this week’s 10-question quiz is, like the others, uberspecific and often unforgiving. Unless you’re a local of either city and/or a maven of food trivia, you may be stumped by questions about local ice cream treats, pizza predilections, and holiday rituals.

In case you don’t follow Major League Baseball, the season just ended on Sunday when the Giants swept the World Series.
