The Craft-Beer Collabo for Always Sunny Fans: Dayman Coffee IPA

One of the greatest traits of craft-beers pros is a tendency to not take themselves too seriously—brewers are down to take silly concepts, like an ale made from human beard, and actually make something tasty out of it. It’s a confidence borne from years of fighting back against homogeneity as an industry underdog.

Now comes the latest example: A coffee IPA by the name of Dayman (you know, fighter of the Nightman, ah-ah-ah), inspired by a recurring joke in the FX comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The joe-inflected ale is a collaboration between Two Brothers Brewing, Stone Brewing Company, and Aleman Brewing. The three crossed paths last year at Iron Brew Ha Ha in Chicago—a brewing competition won by Aleman. The prize was the opportunity to have the winning recipe brewed at Stone Brewing’s facility in Escondido, California. When it was time to find a coffee to use, the search didn’t extend too far: It was supplied by Two Brothers, which recently started to roast coffee beans.

According to Beer Street Journal, “[The] style-bending IPA artfully married the assertive tropical bite of Citra hops with amazing coffee flavor and aromatics to create something truly unique and exceptional.”

The IPA is expected to be available for sale by March.
