Former Goose Island brewer Phil Wymore moved from Chicago to St. Louis to open Perennial, which traffics in a range of Belgian-inspired beers (hop-forward Hommel Bier pale ale, Saison de Lis flavored with chamomile). Additionally, Wymore has a deft touch with high-alcohol sippers, such as the minty Perennial 17 chocolate stout and the barrel-aged Sump coffee stout, as well as fruit-forward sour ales such as the Blueberry Flanders and the Peach Berliner Weisse. When the barrel-aging program really hits its stride, expect Perennial to be regarded as one of the Midwest’s best, most inventive breweries.—Josh Bernstein

Try this: Heart of Gold, a warming, caramel-nuanced wheat wine packing plenty of America hops.

Yea for Monday night! Another Atlanta area brewery to watch is Wild Heaven.

  • Lisa

Great list but where is Golden Road in Los Angeles??

  • Amanda

Awesome list, great to see some local Atlanta breweries featured. What about Eventide Brewing? They are coming online in Atlanta later this year?

I think it’s hilarious that Peekskill Brewery is on the list. The way I hear it, they’ll likely be out of business within the year, considering how poorly they manage their cash flow and treat their employees. It’s a shame.

We are almost half way through 2013. Better late than never I guess.

You can add Red Hare Brewery in Marietta, GA. They are excellent!

Lost Nation Brewing of Vermont just started in Morrisville. Draft only for now, bottles coming. First beer brewed 4-18-2013 a Gose; on tap 5-8-2013 to rave reviews!

    No CIGAR CITY BREWING, CO.????????

    • smurfe

No need to be on an Up and Coming list. They are already there.

This is so cool. And to be in such great company. Thank you from everyone at Ladyface Ale Companie!

You’ll need to look out for Off-Color brewing in Chicago

The sad thing is that unless you are a local to many of these breweries, you will never taste their beer. Many of them have no intention to ever get large enough to distribute outside their local area.

Is this list supposed to be craft breweries less than say 2 years old? If not, any list that’s missing Russian River is a farce.

Bitter Old Fecker Rustic Ales… Michigan nano. First release this summer. Looks badass.
