Have you ever wondered what your face looks like at the exact moment you’re guzzling brown, caramel-flavored soda? Well, for better or for worse, Coca Cola has your back. According to Business Insider, the soft drink giant’s Israeli branch has partnered with the creative agency Gefen Team to build a new selfie-snapping soda bottle in an attempt to conquer social media.
Essentially, each of these new bottles has been outfitted with a kind of plastic, smart-camera koozie. Though the attachment features no buttons, every time you tip the bottle past a 70 degree angle, the camera snaps a photo of your duck face, peace signs, and of course that bright red Coke bottle suctioned to your lips.
While most millennials live in constant fear of accidentally opening the front-facing camera on their iPhones, Coke has taken things even one step further. Once a selfie is properly snapped, the device can upload images of your sticky, soda covered face directly to Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram.
“Users tag themselves and their friends in photos on Coca-Cola’s social media assets,” Gefen Team said in a statement to Business Insider. “It really does the trick and makes the partygoers more present and active during the event, knowing they can share their special moments just by drinking.”
Apparently, Coca Cola Israel “spied a gap in the market for novelty drinks,” and snatched its chance, developing the device for its “Summer Love” campaign, one of largest brand events in the country.
Though there's no word on whether Coke new bottle will ever make its way stateside, there's always the option of gluing a selfie stick to your favorite soft drink and see what happens. And since the camera actually detaches from the bottom of the soda bottle, we're guessing it’s only a matter of time before customers start sticking those suckers on beer bottles to make the party extra lit.
