Whether you’re pounding cold ones or slurping red, white, and blue Jell-O shots this Fourth, you can rest assured that America knows how to hold its liquor. Not only that, but we also like to stay patriotic. Each state does it a little differently, but we all have love for the stars and stripes—especially when we’re boozing.
Social drinking app BARTRENDr recently compiled data from its 700,000 users to determine America’s most popular drinks, broken down by state. Unsurprisingly, each state has its own tastes—but in 33 states, Bud Light wins over the hearts and
minds livers of the people.
If we’re talking liquor, 42 states love their whiskey most of all. Jack Daniel’s and Fireball tie for the top spot in the spirits category.
Vodka lovers aren’t totally left out, though. In Maryland, Svedka tied with Fireball, while in Virginia, Grey Goose won out. (Virginia is for lovers and also dirty martinis, apparently.)

As craft beer lovers, we definitely appreciate that if you’re in Utah, you’ll fit right in with a Wasatch Brewery Polygamy Nitro Porter. Likewise, we can definitely get behind sipping a beautiful Founders Brewing Curmudgeon Old Ale while in Nebraska.
As for liquor, Jack Daniels isn’t content to just tie with Fireball for America’s hearts and livers. In March, the Tennessee whiskey legend rolled out Tennessee Fire, its cinnamon-flavored shot across Fireball’s bow. Can Jack Daniels totally own the whiskey dollars of America? Check back next year.
