The end of March means the release of the previous year’s beer sales figures, helpfully compiled by the Brewers Association. We already know that craft brewing now comprises 7.8% volume of the total U.S. beer market (up from 6.5% in 2012), but it’s always interesting to see who’s really moving product on a large scale.
If you compare the numbers below with those from 2012, you’ll notice that Duvel Moortgat USA—a newcomer to the Top 50 Breweries list—ranks on the 2013 chart at number 8. Matt Brewing Co., makers of Saranac beer, dropped three spots to number 11. Overall, there wasn’t a huge amount of movement, but it’s fascinating to observe how the ranks are gradually changing.
