Watch Auckland-based firm Gyro Constructivists explain how they created the first playable beer bottle. Beck’s Brewery approached the team and asked them to replace the label art with inscribed grooves that would play “Here She Comes” by Australian band Ghost Wave. The designers modeled the music-playing bottle after the first recorded music format, the cylinder record, which Edison invented in the 1890’s. Coincidentally, that’s right around the same time Heinrich Beck was brewing his first beer.
