Wine is a subject that rewards studiousness, but few of us have the time and cash to become full-time students. Open Air Publishing has put out Wine Simplified: Navigate Wine with Confidence to help burgeoning oenephiles who want to take the lessons at their own pace.

The book/app includes “90 minutes of video tastings and tutorials, dozens of interactive guided tours and infographics.” There are also 240 audio pronunciation guides to help with any unfamiliar wine vocabulary.

Marnie Old penned the book with help from fellow wine expert Anthony Giglio, and she appears in accompanying instructive videos throughout. These snippets show you how to decode wine labels and predict what each wine style should taste like. The idea is to turn you into a wine connoisseur by sharpening your intuition.

Open Publishing also released Speakeasy Cocktails: Learn from the Modern Mixologists and The Better Bacon Book: Make, Cook, and Eat Your Way to Cured Pork Greatness—both of which have received rave reviews. Wine Simplified is currently offered at a discounted price of $9.99 on iTunes.
