When it comes to your beer bill, it turns out that U.S. residents really don’t work that hard for the money. If beer were currency, then the average American earns about 96 beers a day, or 480 a week, while on the job—at least according to an Economist infographic spanning 149 countries. The survey assumes the average cost of a 500ml beer is $1.80.

Indeed, Americans work the least amount of time—an average of five minutes—to earn in beer what takes the average French person 10 minutes. Brazilians work twice that long for their brew, while Indians put in the toughest slog (50+ minutes) for an adult refreshment.

These, friends, are the fruits of democracy. Drink them in.
